I first met Tyson when I was 16, instantly he made an impression on me and influenced the way I developed not only as an athlete but also a person. His passion, professionalism and willingness to create a personal relationship with us as a group created a safe and thriving environment which gave me confidence when transitioning into professional rugby after school.

I was also fortunate enough to collaborate with Tyson in developing the Rangatahi Leadership Group, a funded initiative for Māori and Pasifika athletes who face barriers to participation due to the effects of deprivation and isolation. Tysons expertise helped establish a pathway for rangatahi Māori and Pasifka in Murihiku, which is now proudly in its third year.
